What is a Cell?

All living things are made up of cells. In the human body, different types of cell develop alongside each other to form specific organs or tissues. For example, groups of different specialised cells organise to form the brain, liver and layers of skin.

The groups of cells that form each organ or tissue all have unique properties, which means they can work together to perform a specific role.
